Our History

I am Sharmistha Roy, owner of Sharmis Kitchen, originally from Kolkata in
Eastern India and I have tried to incorporate the rich heritage of Bengali/Indian
food that used to be cooked in my grandparents’ kitchen using recipes passed
through several generations.

I started my catering business singlehandedly in lovely Cornwall putting up
stalls in various farmers’ markets having been encouraged by my dear and
lovely friend, Kate Brantingham who unfortunately is no more but whose
warm words and ideas have guided me throughout. This was quite a success!
I moved to Watford in 2018 and started with London Farmer’s market stalls
but moved on to catering for takeaways, deliveries, birthday and marriage
parties including cooking for large-scale Indian religious festivals.

I now have a commercial food manufacturing unit in Watford from where I run
my catering business with the help of my trained team.
My motto in business is to provide my customers with handmade, freshly
cooked gourmet Bengali and Indian dishes including the finest and secret
ingredients to create dishes that one is unlikely to find in a run of the mill
Indian takeaway or restaurant.

Note:

All orders received by Monday will be dispatched on Wednesday/Thursday of the same week. Shipping charges are £9 for orders upto 5 kgs and more than 5 kgs £12.89. Delivery service will be available for Tuesday to Friday.
